Council OKs new subdivision, land development regulations

The article mentions my public comment during the Front Royal Town Council hearing on updated subdivision and land development regulations. I spoke in support of extending Main Street parking exemptions to the rest of the Historic District, since the change appeared to resolve some issues with previous parking restrictions.

I also asked for clarity on whether the updated ordinance addressed parking or access concerns behind certain properties. I did not name the specific property during my comment, but said Council likely understood the situation. My concern was how the ordinance would apply in practice, especially regarding rear access, deliveries, and the fair treatment of properties within the Historic District.

Earlier in the meeting, I also spoke during public comment and asked the town to consider adopting a FOIA request system similar to the county’s NextRequest portal, where the public can browse past requests and responses. Later, during the data center hearing, I made additional comments about the importance of strong definitions, public oversight, and making sure any ordinance did not leave loopholes for large-scale server operations.
