The email I’ve been waiting for all year finally arrived today! I am thrilled to share that my application for the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) has been officially approved.
The journey that began back in March—navigating the “brick walls” of the Sowder line and discovering the recruiter John Plumley—has successfully concluded with my acceptance into the Colonel James Wood II Chapter. There is a profound sense of satisfaction in knowing that the paper trail is complete and my connection to our nation’s founding is formally recognized.
The chapter warmly welcomed me via email today, and my membership dues have already been credited through 2025. While the research was a solo endeavor, I now look forward to the community aspect of the SAR—meeting fellow compatriots, participating in local events, and honoring the legacy of the men and women who served in the Revolutionary War.
My induction ceremony will be coming up soon, and I can’t wait to take the oath and officially begin my service. To anyone who has ever thought about digging into their family history: keep digging. The rewards are well worth the effort!
Next stop: The induction ceremony!
