I can’t recall where I got my Ukulele. I thought it was in Mississippi, but by 2018, I was living in Front Royal, Virginia. Perhaps it was in Bristol, Tennessee, during one of my trips to Florida to see my sister and her family. I have a vague memory of stopping somewhere for lunch and visiting a nearby music store. The shop had many ukuleles to choose from, and the gentleman recommended this one for me. It’s part of the exotic wood series, made from ash, and comes with a gig bag. It was small enough to take with me in my nuCamp T@G camper when Teddy and I went camping.

After I announced my purchase, one of my old Facebook friends reached out to say she was performing with a Ukulele. She goes by Dahlia le Fey and can be found at https://www.facebook.com/CloudyDaysAndHotTea, often performing in Northern Virginia.

Influences

When my Corgi, Teddy, came into my life, I would often watch YouTube videos to learn how to train him and care for his well-being. One of the channels I started watching regularly was Vlog After College. Teddy came into my life during a period of healing, and we would watch Ryan play his Ukulele for his corgi, Gatsby, which helped ease my troubles and let me relax into a world of happiness.

Other ukulele influences in my life include Joshua “Li’iBoy” Shintani playing Never Forget Where I’m From in the movie Shallow Hal, Adam Sandler playing “Forgetful Lucy” in 50 First Dates and Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwo’ole singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and playing the ukulele melody.
