June Volunteer Highlight: Tech, Corgis, and the CitiCar

I was honored to be featured as the inaugural Volunteer Highlight for Samuel’s Public Library. The profile captured a snapshot of my “life outside the boardroom,” featuring me holding my Corgi (who, for the record, knows his left from his right) and my electric CitiCar.
From Trustee to Mentor
While I joined the library as a Board of Trustee member in July 2023, I quickly felt a desire to get more involved with our patrons directly. This led me to become a program mentor, bridging the gap between library governance and hands-on community service.
My Roles at the Library:
- Tech Tuesdays: Providing direct IT support to patrons navigating everything from basic devices to complex technical hurdles.
- Studio 330 Workshops: Developing and leading workshops in our makerspace, focusing on 3D printing and laser cutter technology.
- History & Research: Supporting archival deep-dives and preserving our local heritage.
- Fundraising & Outreach: Assisting with the events and initiatives that keep our library thriving.
Why Samuels?
When asked what my favorite thing about the library is, my answer is simple: the overwhelming wide variety of everything. It is a hub of knowledge, a workshop for creators, and a sanctuary for history.
Being the first volunteer highlighted in this series was a powerful moment for me. It underscored the fact that whether I’m discussing Terry Pratchett’s Discworld or troubleshooting a laptop, the library is a place where all my passions converge to help my neighbors.
