Looking back, the Dawn & Drew Show was a podcast by a married couple fixing up an old house in Wisconsin during the early days of podcasting. They were fairly popular and were even on Sirius Satellite (Sirius Stars 102) every weeknight. I hadn’t heard of them until they started buying land in the Higgins Sim behind my shop, Dedric Mauriac’s Gadgets. Droobles Knopfli was the second life name of Drew Dumkus. I don’t recall the avatar name for Dawn Miceli, but they claimed to be gutter punks that were still kicking strong.

DrFran and I consider some possible event opportunities to raise donations and awareness of the SecondLife Relay for Life. One such idea is to speak with our neighbor Droobles Knopfli - the host from the Dawn & Drew show. D&D is a very popular podcast that ranks at the top of most charts in the podcasting community and even has there show on Sirius Satelite, Sirius Stars 102 every week night. If you listen to podcasts, then chances are that you know who Dawn Miceli and Drew Domkus are. They are a married couple in Wisconsin fixing up an old farm house. Why are they special? They used to be Gutter Punks and are still kicking strong. From Dedric Mauriac via blogHUD

From that point on, I subscribed to their podcast and listened to every episode. I believe there were around 300 episodes, and binge listening to everything was a bit exhausting and took quite some time to get through.

I was listening in as they built up to having everyone meet them for a trip to Hershey Park, shortly before I caught on to their show. At the end of each episode, they would often play back messages left by listeners, who came to be known as minions. They later created a website for the Minion Army, where you could listen to special episodes featuring people like “Showbiz Dad” (Dawn’s father). People would then call in, just saying which minion number they were.

The couple was a bit wild and did things that weren’t quite the norm. I recall at the end of each episode, Dawn would say “Good night inkernet”.

I got a nice kit of stickers, a signed message, a laminated membership, and a shirt featuring the podcast’s logo of a star within a circle with the letters D&D. I chose “Lewie” as my secret identity name. I had lost the card at one time and purchased another with a “true” secret identity of Binary Protege.
