Summary
In this thirtieth Dreamy Audio entry, Lewis Moten recalls a dream that begins as a commute to work and quickly mutates into animal motion—crawling, rolling, and gliding down a road that dissolves into forest paths. Barefoot and muddy, he moves through snow that isn’t cold, office supplies hidden like geocache treasures, and brief encounters that question identity and trust.
The dream closes in heightened alertness and quiet awe. Wolves appear near a bridge—first as threat, then as misdirection—revealed to be a cohesive pack led by a shape-shifting figure. Fear sharpens into awareness just before waking, leaving the journey unfinished but vividly alive.
Analysis
This dream explores adaptive identity under pressure. Losing shoes and roads suggests shedding social roles, while geocaching reflects valuing small, practical meaning over destination. The wolves—first feared, then revealed as ordered and led—mirror instincts misunderstood as threats, hinting that awareness and restraint, not panic, are the true guides through uncertain terrain.

Today is July 18th, 2005. This morning’s dream I was leaving for work. I had everything that I needed in a backpack and I was walking and it turns out that I was on my belly crawling on the road and it was really fast and eventually I was not really crawling but rolling like I was kind of half a car I guess. The road turned into a dirt road and I was in a forest and it was pretty nice and the road just turned into more of a like paths through the road.
It really wasn’t a road anymore, it was just paths. I stopped by at a house and there was a hollow stump with a few things in it and it was mainly just office supplies. I’ll just say right now that I’m in a little game called geocaching and geocaching your hunt for little treasures in the woods and this is pretty much how it came off to me in the dream is that it was a geocache of office supplies. So I picked up a few things and put it in my backpack and I continued on and at one place a cow was coming up behind me and I just stood really still and the cow came up and just walked past me and I remember there was snow around but it wasn’t cold and there was lots of mud and as I’m walking There’s mud on my feet and I’m barefoot. I come upon two women working on the road and yeah I guess it’s a road again but it’s still like a muddy dirt road. And after I go past them I realize that I didn’t have any shoes on and you know I need to choose for work. I was barefoot. You can’t show up for work barefoot, especially with mud. I turn around and the women said that I could not go back to the area that I came through and that it was too dangerous. And I tell them that I just came through there and they did not trust that I was the same person who just came through. Of course you know in the woods how many people are going to walk past them.
In fact why are they even in the woods in the first place? So anyway I said I didn’t have the time for whatever it is that they were. I didn’t have time to argue with them and I just walked past them anyway just deliberate. And I thought I should have just shown them my feet and have them match them against the footprints in the mud that I came there with.
And then I just decided they were just being funny. So I keep walking and scenery is just astounding. I took a couple pictures with my camera phone and I stopped back at the hollow stone and I saw a cube of yellow post-it notes laying nearby. So I go and pick up the yellow post-it notes and put it in my bag and a woman sees me. I just simply walk off and I’m thinking now she knows where the hidden stash is. And geocaching you don’t really want strangers I guess knowing about the stash. If they’re not going to play the game. Because they might just not understand and just take everything but hopefully they’ll see the little note inside the box that explains what the game is.
But I was just paranoid that this woman was going to see these office supplies and just take them off for herself. I walked down the hill on the paths and I come upon a bridge and for some reason I hide on the side of it or behind it and there’s another path coming along it. And I can see at the far end of the path there are these two wolves that are coming and they’re walking side by side to each other. And I’m thinking great they’re going to come after me. They’re going to attack me or something. And they’re going to smell me. They’re going to know I’m nearby.
And then I see this woman she skyclad and she starts walking up from the side of the road near them. And I’m thinking they’re going to smell her now and they’re going to go after her. And I’ve got a little bit of concern but then it turns out that she’s just another one of these wolves in a different color. It’s like more of a reddish tan color or something where the other wolves were like dark gray. It turns out that she was the leader of the pack leading these wolves on and there are two more wolves that show up behind the three wolves that are already here. So you know there’s a whole pack of five wolves and they’re surely bound to smell me and come after me. And then I had the great fortune of waking up.
