Summary
In this twenty-seventh Dreamy Audio entry, Lewis Moten recounts a sprawling, absurdist dream stitched from disconnected scenes that keep reassigning meaning mid-stride. It opens with drunken robots playing pool under a half-believed wish, shifts into drinking improvised fruit mixtures, then dissolves into a photograph that becomes a jungle—where a cave, an electric stove, and repeating textures blur object and environment into one looping pattern.
The dream escalates through attics, factories, churches, hair salons, classrooms, and cafeterias, each governed by unclear rules and withheld instructions. Tasks mutate—poisoned food becomes cat litter, volunteering becomes transactional, pamphlets promise participation without direction. The thread holding it together is persistent confusion: trying to help, trying to comply, trying to find the right place—only to discover the system itself never explains how it works.

Today is July 5th, 2005. Last night’s dream began with two robots playing pool against each other. They were pretty drunk, and there was this wish or something where you could get whatever you wanted, and no one believed in it. But the male robot decided to just try it out just to see what would happen. And so he started playing pool, and he was making every shot. And of course he was a robot, so you would expect him to get every shot, but apparently in this dream, robots are not perfect. So he won the game against another robot, because the other robot didn’t have a chance to play, so it was my turn to play. And before we decided to play, they brought some ingredients over for me to mix and drink. I squeezed a strawberry over a lemon, and then I squeezed that into a glass, and the robots were pretty impressed.
Although this isn’t really a mixed drink at all. It’s just really weird. Let’s skip ahead to another part of the dream that I remember. And I was looking at a book of very nice pictures of nature, more like jungles and forests and such like that. And I was looking at one particular picture of a jungle that had a lot of detail in it. And I would get closer and closer to this picture, and then I was in the picture. And I keep getting closer and closer, and there was like water I would get close to, and then there was a cave on the right.
And I would go inside the cave, and there was an electronic stove in the middle of it. And the cave’s floor was actually covered with water from the river outside. And so I was swimming in the water, and I noticed that the rocks in the water had a pattern to them. And the texture of this pattern was an image of the stove that was in the cave. And this texture was repeated everywhere in the rocks in the cave, in the water.
If I go outside, it was on the rocks outside in the river as well. Alright, let’s go ahead and skip to the next part of the dream. And this is a part where I was in the attic, and there was pretty much a group of us together.
And there was an old member who had come back to our team, but he wasn’t coming back to be with our team. He was just picking up some stuff. And somebody came on the television who was his new boss, and was pretty much worried that he was getting the right paperback books.
And he loved this particular kind to make sure he was being treated okay. And Air Boss was just agreeing with the guy and saying, yeah, we’ll take care of it, but we’re all thinking at the back of our heads that this is just the funniest thing ever. But then a lover of this guy said something about his genes in the underwear were showing or something, and the guy snapped back and said he didn’t wear tighty whiteies and he was free-balling and all that stuff. It was just really weird. So I was picking up some durable food that was deemed to be poisonous that was in the attic. And pretty much there was one ingredient that was poisonous that we couldn’t figure out what it was. So I needed to take it back to the factory where it was made and identify what the ingredient was. So I packed it in on the dolly and I took it to the next room. And because we were in the attic, there’s this plank that goes over the steps and I had to roll this heavy dolly over that plank. And then I was arriving at the company. I rolled the durable food out and workers started trying to attack me as if I was discovering some underground installation from some movie.
Like I was on a James Bond or something stupid like that. And then the smaller guy came out and he meets these guys and he pretty much gets them to stop doing whatever it is they’re trying to do. And he’s pretty much the boss. He helps me out and he gets on the dolly and we’re all on the dolly and it’s pretty much a vehicle traveling on its own and there’s rails on the sides of it so we don’t fall out. And then suddenly I’m in a car. And the gerbil food, these things are still with me but they’re in the trunk and they’re not gerbil food anymore.
They’re a cat litter. So I arrive at a church parking lot in the car and I’m looking for a place to start cleaning up. There’s lots of parking lots interconnected and I become upset because everyone was already there previously and cleaned up and I wanted to volunteer out of the goodness of my heart. And so I decide to head home back towards the church. I look up and I notice it’s a white church with a black roof and there’s three levels to this roof and there’s grass growing on top of the roof. So I start looking around and I saw some people on the side with a lot of jackets and shirts on a table. And apparently I was supposed to help these people or they were supposed to help me and they would take my cat litter and I would give them two things of cat litter and they would give me a free jacket.
And along with that free jacket they would give me a coupon of some kind for a free haircut and supposedly some money. Anyhow I decided instead of dealing with these people I would just pull to the side park and go inside of the building to get more information about what it is I’m supposed to be doing exactly. Turns out that it’s a hairdresser building. I go past all the hairdresser people and them doing their haircuts and stuff and I go directly to the receptionist. There’s a woman in front of me and she’s just finishing up and then I approach and I start asking questions like where do I go, what am I doing, how does this work. I was just confused. The woman she gets upset and tells me to go to the next building to get all of the information that I need. So I go to the next building and it turns out that the hairdresser there, it’s another hairdresser place and I go to the back and this woman approaches me and asks me if I need a haircut. I said no, not right now.
I will need one later. And I was trying to find out what I needed to do and she directed me to go back out into the waiting room. As I went back to the waiting room there was someone out there, it was an older gentleman, pretty much giving another person a hard time because apparently he says that most young people press the button to go up to the elevator to the second floor and they assume that there’s nothing on the first floor for them and apparently we were supposed to go on the first floor. So I ask him how do I get to the first floor and he’s upset and he points over to a set of steps. So I go down the set of steps and it turns out these steps are actually on the edge of the classroom, in a college. I’m looking around and I don’t see a teacher and it’s a bit dark inside with a few televisions and all those televisions have the word vote on the screen. So I just keep walking through and then I’m in the cafeteria and I notice there’s this guy putting pamphlets on the table and on walls and even on people. The teacher noticed him and I told the teacher that I needed to talk to the guy so both of us chased down this guy. I couldn’t run too fast because I was holding some rails from the steps that I just went down and I couldn’t move, they were pretty heavy.
When I had the rails with me I have no clue but I had them. So the teacher finally caught the guy and I followed right after and I saw him and he thought he was in trouble. I explained to him that we were just trying to find the base of operations so that we could participate in the little program that they had. Just then two kids came in behind us and thought we were copying off of their idea to catch the guy. So apparently this guy is distributing documentation or pamphlets all throughout the school but nobody can find out more information of where to go. Well, that’s enough of the dream for today. Catch you next time.
