I've been trying to avoid using hover text for a few things. Especially for my vendors. I've found it useful for some scenarios though. One thing I like to use it for is a progress meter. I find that the font makes for a nice display using dots and pipes. When loading from a notecard, I first look at the number of lines, then start processing them one at a time.
