Webcams in the 90’s were very simple. They were only black-and-white grayscale images, and the resolution was fairly low. Most people were using dial-up modems to connect to the internet and couldn’t handle the bandwidth required for high-resolution video at high frame rates.
Part of the fun I had was reducing the color palette down to about 8 colors and optimizing transparency to reduce the file size. This one is 8 colors and uses the same color palette for every frame, getting it down to 5 KB. Just for kicks, I added a monochromatic red hue so it wasn’t just another Black & White image.
