| About: | Web Search is a program that looks through a database filled with internet sites related to key words that a user submits. There are many categories to choose from. I have also made a seperate page to give the user more control to find what they are looking for. |
| Features: | Sites that look as if they may contain adult content are flagged and not shown unless the user submit’s a query from the extended options page and marks the option to view adult related links. Users may submit their own sites to be added to the data base. Banners may be submitted to advertise sites and/or products related to the key words that a user submits in their query. |
| Comments: | This was my first Active Server project. Since I previously knew a little Visual Basic, I Learned VBScript pretty quick. I had to adjust to a few options that were not available, but the final result turned out better then planned. One problem I had was a lack of software such as SQL server. It would have allowed me to move to a specific record rather then move through all the record before it. It is unnoticable, but as the database grows, the access time will increase greatly. |
